Aymeric Laporte has set a new record in the Premier League. The Manchester City centre-back made his 100th appearance in the Premier League against Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday.

The defending champions of England won the game 2-0, with Laporte being able to keep a clean sheet against the Clarets. The player has earned 254 points from his first 100 games in the English top-flight, with a total of 300 points possible.

The record was previously held by Didier Drogba of Chelsea, who earned 246 points from his first 100 games. Laporte’s teammate, Ederson, matched the Chelsea legend, earning the same number of points after 100 games. And now, he has surpassed both of them and holds the record on his own.

The defender was signed from Athletic Bilbao in Spain for a fee worth €65 million in 2018. Since then, he has gone on to be a key player under Pep Guardiola alongside John Stones and Ruben Dias.

With Manchester City, he has made a total of 143 appearances across all competitions and has won the Premier League title three times, the FA Cup once, and the League Cup four times.

After long being ignored by the French national team, Aymeric Laporte was called up by Luis Enrique to Spain. After making his debut last year, he has earned 15 caps for the Spanish national team and is one of the most important defenders for them now.
