Aymeric Laporte has agreed a transfer to Al Nassr from Manchester City. The defender will be making the move for a transfer fee in the region of £25-30 million. The player, on the other hand, will be signing a three-year contract which will pay him a salary of £21 million per year.
He joins former teammate Riyad Mahrez as the second City player to make the move to Saudi Arabia. Al Nassr have also recruited Marcelo Brozovic, Seko Fofana, Sadio Mane and Alex Telles so far this summer, with Otavio also expected to join them from Porto. Now, Aymeric Laporte will sign for the club to bolster their defence.
Al Nassr sign Aymeric Laporte from Manchester City in sudden transfer
With the arrival of Manuel Akanji and Josko Gvardiol in defence, the Spain international was not expected to get a lot of game time. The presence of Ruben Dias and Kyle Walker in central defence also pushed him down the pecking order.
Injuries did no favour to the 29-year-old, as he was regularly in the medical room and was unable to stay consistent in the starting line-up. With the Euros coming up next year, he wants more game time which he will receive in Saudi Arabia alongside a massive wage, which European clubs could not have afforded.
Al Nassr are also close to signing Arturo Vidal as a free agent, and have been linked with former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos on a free transfer. But, a deal hasn’t been completed for either player yet.
