Nobody saw this coming — least of all the original film’s own fate. **Awarapan 2**, the sequel to a 2007 movie that flopped hard on release, has just stormed past the **Rs 100 crore mark** in a mere 5 days, making it **Emraan Hashmi’s biggest solo grosser** of all time.

## Awarapan 2: The Numbers Don’t Lie

The film added Rs 10 crore on its first Tuesday — a 10% jump from Monday — pushing its total nett collection to Rs 100.75 crore. That’s a rare feat for any film, let alone a sequel to a commercial disaster.

| Day | Collection (Nett) |
| --- | --- |
| Friday | Rs 22.50 cr |
| Saturday | Rs 33.00 cr |
| Sunday | Rs 26.00 cr |
| Monday | Rs 9.25 cr |
| Tuesday | Rs 10.00 cr |
| **Total** | **Rs 100.75 cr** |

## Why This Is a Big Deal

This marks the **first time a solo Emraan Hashmi film** has entered the three-digit crore club. Overall, it now sits at the second spot among his highest grossers, trailing only “Tiger 3,” where he played the antagonist alongside Salman Khan.

Trade estimates suggest the film could close its opening week around Rs 115 crore, with a strong second weekend expected given the lack of major new releases. Directed by Nitin Kakkar, the film has benefited from a controlled production budget, boosting its chances of a blockbuster verdict.

## A Genre Revival Story

[Emraan Hashmi](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emraan_Hashmi) built his career on intense, music-driven love stories through the 2000s and early 2010s with hits like Murder 2, Raaz 3, and Jannat 2. That genre had faded in recent years — but its revival, sparked partly by re-release hits like Sanam Teri Kasam last year, paved the way for Awarapan 2’s success. A sequel to a flop becoming a blockbuster is virtually unprecedented in Bollywood history.
