Emraan Hashmi is having a moment. **Awarapan 2**, the long-awaited follow-up to his 2007 cult classic, has powered through its second Friday with barely a dent in collections — proof that word-of-mouth, not just opening-day hype, is driving this one.

## Day 8: A Hold Worth Talking About

The film added **Rs. 4.75 crore** on its second Friday, just a 10–12% dip from the day before — a strong signal heading into the weekend. That pushes the **8-day nett total to Rs. 116.25 crore**.

Trade watchers now expect the second weekend to close near **Rs. 20 crore**, taking the running total to roughly **Rs. 130 crore**, with a full-run target of **Rs. 150 crore nett** — assuming it keeps holding steady against the incoming Yash-starrer *Toxic*.

## Why This Sequel’s Success Is So Unusual

Here’s the twist: the original *[Awarapan](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Awarapan)* flopped hard at the box office in 2007 before earning cult status over the years. A sequel to a commercial disaster becoming a certified Super Hit is close to unprecedented in Bollywood — and it’s reviving an entire genre of intense musical love stories that once made Emraan Hashmi one of the industry’s most bankable stars in the early 2010s.
