Marvel is calling *Avengers: Doomsday* its biggest crossover since *Endgame* — and in superhero math, “biggest crossover” usually means “someone’s not making it to the after-party.” The twist? Marvel rarely kills the character fans expect. It kills the one whose story feels *finished*.

So instead of guessing by fame, here’s a reality check based on how finished each hero’s arc actually is, backed by [Wikipedia’s official overview of the film](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avengers:_Doomsday), which confirms this is the first half of a two-part finale closing out the Multiverse Saga before *Secret Wars*.

## Avengers: Doomsday- Death-Odds Cheat Sheet

| Hero | Why They’re at Risk | Death Likelihood |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Magneto** (Ian McKellen) | Villain, revolutionary, ally — arc fully explored | Very High |
| **Sam Wilson’s Cap** | No super-serum, leading on courage alone | Very High |
| **Cyclops** (James Marsden) | MCU may reboot X-Men with younger cast | High |
| **Thor** (Chris Hemsworth) | Last Phase One Avenger standing | High |
| **Bucky Barnes** | Redemption arc already complete | High |
| **Spider-Man** | Holland’s hinted retirement, but story still expanding | Low (not zero) |

## Who’s Probably Safe

Yelena Belova, Shang-Chi, Reed Richards, and Scarlet Witch all have unfinished business — Marvel doesn’t usually torch an investment right when it starts paying off.

## The Bottom Line

If Marvel wants *Infinity War*-level heartbreak, the smart money is on farewells for the legends — Magneto, Sam Wilson, Bucky, Thor, and Cyclops — clearing the runway for a new generation before *Secret Wars*.
