## Why the Earth Kingdom Matters

Season 2 is where the world of *Avatar* gets much bigger. Tudum says the production built **Ba Sing Se** on an outdoor backlot, with executive producer Christine Boylan saying, “Once we got the back lot and we realized we could build Ba Sing Se … I probably cried that day.” She added that all those buildings were real, underscoring how much the show expanded its practical scale for the new season.

That expansion is not just visual. Tudum also quotes executive producer Jabbar Raisani saying the goal of Season 2 was to take the kids introduced in Season 1 and show how they grow — but “growth is not a straight line.” That makes the Earth Kingdom arc important not only for new locations and villains, but also for character development across the whole group.

With **Toph**, **Long Feng**, **King Kuei**, and a whole new corner of the Four Nations now in play, *Avatar: The Last Airbender* Season 2 marks the show’s biggest expansion yet. And since the season is already streaming, viewers do not have to wait to enter the Earth Kingdom.
