Right from the moment the coin was tossed, it was clear that this match was going to be a high-scoring affair. Australia, after winning the toss, chose to bat first, and their openers, Travis Head and David Warner, came out all guns blazing. They left no room for hesitation and quickly piled up 118 runs without losing a wicket during the first powerplay. Both batsmen reached their respective half-centuries, with Head taking just 25 balls and Warner closely following with 28 balls.

The duo established a formidable partnership, accumulating 175 runs for the opening wicket, before Warner departed for a well-fought 81 off 65 balls. Shortly after, Glenn Phillips removed Head, who left the field after scoring a blazing 109 from just 67 balls.

After Warner and Head’s sensational partnership, Australia suffered a few setbacks when Steve Smith and Mitchell Marsh couldn’t sustain the momentum. This provided New Zealand with an opportunity for a late recovery. However, Australia had an ace up their sleeve in the form of Glenn Maxwell. Maxwell’s explosive batting once again shifted the momentum back in favor of the Aussies. With Pat Cummins and Josh Inglis following suit and hitting boundaries at will, Australia posted a massive 388 runs on the board, showcasing their prowess in white-ball cricket.
