Atletico Madrid have agreed a contract renewal with Jan Oblak until 2025, with an increased salary. The official announcement confirming the extension will be made in the coming days.

Oblak is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and is vital to Diego Simeone’s style of play. The manager was pushing for his renewal before the start of the new season, which has now been completed. The Slovenian has played 352 games for the Rojiblancos over the course of eight years, and is now expected to make that number ten.

Diego Simeone has been forced to come up with creative solutions for the right-back position since the departure of Kieran Trippier to Newcastle United. But now, he is set to receive a natural in that position in Nahuel Molina of Udinese.

The La Liga side has achieved a breakthrough in negotiations with Udinese. Molina is expected to travel to Madrid today, with Atletico Madrid wanting to make the deal official by the end of the week. The right-back has earned 16 caps for the Argentina national team. And in 68 appearances for Udinese, he has scored ten goals and provided ten assists.

At 24, Simeone will be working with a player entering his prime. And considering his ability to attack as well as defend, he will no doubt be a very important signing for the club.
