Atletico Madrid are in the final stages of signing Wolves player Rafa Mir this summer, with the contact between the two clubs being confirmed by Marca.
Personal terms have already been agreed by Mir, and the two teams will reach total agreement soon. Mir has shone for the Spanish national team in the Olympics, scoring a hat-trick after coming off the bench against Ivory Coast and helping his team win the game by a 5-2 margin.
In that game, he became the second fastest player to score a goal in the Olympics as a substitute, at 58 seconds with his first touch of the ball. In addition, he etched his name in history as the first player to score a hat-trick for Spain in the Olympics since 1928.
The price tag that the Rojiblancos will pay for Mir is close to €10 million, and Sevilla also wanted him in La Liga. But, the champions of Spain are the frontrunners in the race, and will soon be the next club for the player.
Mir spent the last 1.5 seasons on loan at Huesca and came through the Barcelona and Valencia academies before sealing a €2 million transfer to Wolves in 2018. The 24-year-old scored 25 goals for Huesca in 57 appearances, and is showing great potential as a young centre-forward. Wolves only have a year of contract left with him, and are making the choice to cash in rather than lose him on a free deal next year.
