Mumbai City FC ran riot against ATK Mohun Bagan, to win 5-1 against their title rivals. ATKMB played the second half with ten men after Deepak Tangri was sent off. Here are the key talking points from the biggest game of the season yet.
Three Big Points
Being a relatively short league, every point in ISL matters. And Mumbai City FC have drawn level with ATK Mohun Bagan in terms of points on the table. They lost their previous game, but have now made up for the points dropped with a huge win instead. From here, the title race is as open as it gets.
But, it would be unwise to count the Maroon and Green outfit from the race just yet.
Magic on the Wings
Bipin Singh and Vikram Pratap Singh would combine for the first two goals scored by the latter. Bipin would then get on the scoresheet himself, to further add to the joy of the Islanders.
Vikram Pratap Singh was named the Hero of the Match, for his brace within the first half an hour to give Mumbai the push they needed in the game.
Not a Good Day at the Office
We’ve seen better from ATK Mohun Bagan in the ISL. The pressure of the big game seems to have gotten to them, but that in no way takes their performances from previous games away. With Deepak Tangri sent off and Roy Krishna unable to perform to his exceptional standards, it might just have been one bad game.
ATK take on Jamshedpur next, while Mumbai take their title quest to the game against Bengaluru FC.
