The significance of sports science took center stage at the Bharat Sports Science Conclave held in New Delhi, where Hon’ble Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Shri Anurag Thakur, stressed its vital role. The event, attended by prominent athletes like Abhinav Bindra, Anju Bobby George, and Deepak Chahar, aimed to advance high-performance research for Indian sports and athletes.

During the conclave, Shri Anurag Thakur expressed his delight at participating in this inaugural event, highlighting the role of sports science in nurturing athletes’ potential. He emphasized that sports science empowers individuals to comprehend their physical limits and unleash their capabilities, ultimately propelling them toward excellence.

Moreover, Shri Anurag Thakur underscored the use of sports science elements to bolster athletes’ training, enabling them to recognize their strengths, improve, and surmount challenges. He affirmed the government’s commitment to integrating sports science departments into the National Centers of Excellence across the country.

Abhinav Bindra echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the pivotal role of sports science in enhancing athletic performance and well-being. He urged coaches to embrace sports science methodologies to propel India to global sporting eminence.

Notably, the conclave featured distinguished figures such as G. Vani Bhushanam, Dr. Pralay Majumdar, Dr. Nanaki J Chadha, Dr. Pierre Beauchamp, and Amey Kolekar, who shared valuable insights as mentors to future sports stars. Additionally, it included a special session by TOPS CEO, Cmde PK Garg, and a presentation on Integrity and Fair Play by Mr. Virendra Rajput from the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA).

The Bharat Sports Science Conclave stands as a testament to India’s progressive approach toward leveraging sports science to propel athletes to new heights, cementing the nation’s position on the global sporting map.
