According to transfer insiders Fabrizio Romano and Francesco Porzio on the Here We Go podcast, Atalanta star Papu Gomez is still on the transfer market. They further went on to say that he is available and Atalanta want to sell him for sure.

The club captain had a falling out with manager Gian Piero Gasperini in the half-time break of Atalanta’s Champions League match against Ajax, and has since been cast out of the playing squad and has found himself on the bench for the majority of the fixtures.

While La Dea are desperate to get the Argentinian off of their books, they don’t want to sell him to big clubs in Italy. According to the journalistic duo, Gomez wants to go to other countries.

The 32-year-old further, does not want to go to mid table clubs and wants to be a part of an important club in the world. That destination could be Spain. However, no official bid has been received by the Serie A club for Gomez.

The general consensus is that it is too late for Gomez to apply his trade in the Premier League considering the difference between the two leagues. However, at 32, the attacking midfielder still has a few good years left in him. And having been one of Atalanta’s most important players in recent years, he could still add a lot of quality to any line-up that he is a part of.
