After having unveiled the Zenfone 11 Ultra earlier this year, it seems that ASUS is already working on its successor — likely to be named the Zenfone 12 Ultra. Its marketing name has been confirmed as the device recently showed up on the IMEI database, showing us its model number. Here are the full details.
The Upcoming ASUS Zenfone 12 Ultra
The above is the ASUS Zenfone 12 Ultra, and it appears on the IMEI database with model number ‘ASUSAI2501H’. The Zenfone 12 Ultra, as the Gizmochina report further details might be like a close replica of ASUS ROG Phone 9 and may come with similar features. The Zenfone 11 Ultra and the ROG Phone 8 series both had almost similar hardware, which further strengthens this speculation.
However, before getting too excited, it’s important to note that the report suggests the Zenfone 12 Ultra may not launch anytime soon. It is rumored to be powered by the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC expected in the ROG Phone 9, as well. This is now a step up from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 inside of the Zenfone 11 Ultra. The new chip will likely be made at a relatively thin 3nm node at TSMC, and we will probably see some pretty impressive performance numbers when the phone finally launches.
Other than that, we don’t know much about the ROG Phone 9 or ASUS Zenfone 12 Ultra, and with the just-released March this year for the Zenfone 11 Ultra why not possibly drop it in around a similar time next year? But ASUS could launch it earlier if other brands continue with their accelerated schedules.
To recap, the ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra featured a 6.78-inch FHD+ LTPO AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. It was equipped with a 50MP IMX890 main camera with gimbal OIS, a 32MP 3X telephoto sensor, and a 13MP ultrawide sensor. For selfies, there was a 32MP front camera. The phone also housed a 5,500mAh battery with 65W fast charging.
