ASUS has again launched the refreshed VivoBook S14 from last year with Ryzen 4000U processors to the newer Ryzen 5000U series processors. However the APU used here is the same Zen 2 refreshed APU but with SMT enabled that should further increase performance.
So, being a refreshed laptop, it borrows a lot of similarity as of last year, featauring a 14-inch LED-backlit full-HD (1,920×1,080 pixels) IPS panel with 85% screen-to-body ratio. The display still comes with a 250 nits peak brightness and a 16:9 aspect ratio.
Unlike last time, the VivoBook S14 features up to AMD Ryzen 5 5500U processor and no word on the 5700U variant. Obviously, the Ryzen 5 5500U is still pretty good APU with 6 cores and 12 threads, 2.1GHz base and up to 4.0GHz boost clock speeds, also there’s the integrated Radeon graphics as well.
It is paired with up to 8GB DDR4 RAM clocked at 3,200MHz and up to 1TB PCIe 3.0 M.2 X2 SSD. For connectivity, you have dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth v5.0 support. Coming to ports, you get one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, two USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI 1.4 port, a combo audio jack, and an SD card reader.
The Asus VivoBook S14 is still a pretty light laptop with a weight of just 1.4kg although housing a pretty good 50Whr battery which should give you good battery life. It starts at an affordable pricing of Rs. 65,990 and will be available in multiple colours including Dreamy White, Gaia Green, Indie Black, and Resolute Red.
