ASUS ROG Zephyrus 15 Duo SE will be the first laptop to sport the flagship AMD Ryzen 9 5980HX CPU

It was coming and finally, the leaks have confirmed the fact that the first laptop is here to sport AMD’s flagship Ryzen 9 5980HX processor and it is indeed by ASUS.

This totally matches this leak we covered days ago: Could soon we see the first AMD Ryzen 9 5980HX powered gaming laptop?

So, ASUS’s flagship gaming laptop with dual displays – the ASUS ROG Zephyrus 15 Duo SE will be the first to sport this flagship AMD Ryzen 9 5980HX CPU. This is not unusual to see as the Ryzen 9 5980HS is an exclusive on the ASUS ROG X13 Flow.

The HX variant had to be used on a beefier model to get the most out of it and what could be better than a Zephyrus 15 Duo SE. LaptopUnderBudget recently discovered that Newegg has listed the gaming laptop with Ryzen 9 5980HX processor.

As we said in the leak previously, AMD had to bring up their best Zen 3 based mobile SKU as Intel’s Core i9-11980HK unlocked CPU is already in the market and is really powerful over the Cezanne-H processors. The Ryzen 9 5980HX is an unlocked SKU with a TDP higher than 45 watts and has high boost clock speeds of up to 4.8GHz.

CES 2021: ASUS drops Intel in favor of AMD Ryzen for its upgraded ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE

Newegg has listed a new model called GX551QM-ES96, that has not even been listed on ASUS Website yet. The ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE variant here sports the Ryzen 9 5980HX, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 graphics, 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD, also sporting a 300Hz Full HD panel.

However, there should be another model with RTX 3080 and with 4K 120Hz panel but as the laptop is currently out of stock, the price cannot be guessed yet, so we will have to wait for it to be available finally.
