More About the Asus ROG Phone 9 Series Display

Asus is targeting record display refresh rates with the ROG Phone 9 series according to popular leaker Digital Chat Station. The firm is expected to add a 185Hz LTPO show, a significant improvement over the 165Hz panel found on the ROG Phone 8 Pro. This high-end display tech is likely to come with the ROG Phone 9 Pro, but perhaps also the vanilla ROG Phone 9. Also, both versions will probably include Asus’ “SoC center design,” which Asus claims does a wonderful work of maintaining the Snapdragon 8 Elite cool.

In terms of design, the ROG Phone 9 and 9 Pro will resemble a lot of the ROG Phone 8 series. There is also a budget variant of the Galaxy S24 family in the works, and this is all but confirmed through a recent listing in the GSMA database showing a third model that will likely come with last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Earlier leaks suggest that the ROG Phone 9 will maintain a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate and an FHD+ (2400 x 1080) resolution.

Camera specifications seem to remain mostly the same, featuring a 32MP front camera and a triple-lens rear configuration with a 50MP main sensor, a 13MP ultrawide lens, and a 5MP macro lens, replacing the 32MP telephoto lens from the ROG Phone 8. A slight bump in battery capacity is expected, increasing from 5,500mAh to 5,800mAh, with 65W wired charging. It remains uncertain if wireless charging will be included, although it is expected, as this feature was present in the ROG Phone 8. The device is also likely to keep the 3.5mm headphone jack with a Hi-Fi DAC for enhanced audio quality.
