The ASUS ROG Phone 9 series is expected to introduce a new ‘FE’ (Fan Edition) model this year. Much like the FE models from Samsung, this variant is likely to be a value play in the flagship lineup. ASUS ROG Phone 9 FE: Affordable Gaming Smartphone with Flagship Features
The display of the ROG Phone 9 FE will be a 6.78-inch FHD+ (2400×1080 pixels) Samsung Flexible AMOLED LTPO panel refresh rate of up to 165Hz which can scale to 185Hz in Game Genie. The display features a peak brightness of 2,500 nits, and 1,600 nits HBM, as well as the protection of Gorilla Glass Victus 2. It’s similar to the display found in the ROG Phone 9 and Pro models. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor with Adreno 730 GPU, 16GB LPDDR5X RAM, and 256GB UFS 4.0 storage.
The ROG Phone 9 FE has a 50MP Sony IMX890 main (OIS), 13MP ultra-wide and a 5MP macro camera. Meanwhile, the front-facing camera is a 32MP shooter but misses out on the telephoto camera found on the regular ROG Phone 9 models. There is a 5,500mAh battery with support for 65W wired and wireless charging. For reference, the ROG Phone 9 and Pro battery is 5,800mAh with the same 65W charging speed. The device will run Android 15 with the ROG UI and come with dual stereo speakers, Hi-Res Audio, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi 7, and an in-display fingerprint sensor.
The design of the ROG Phone 9 FE is similar to the flagship models, featuring the same camera module and ROG logo on the back. It will come in at least a ‘Phantom Black’ color variant and include AirTrigger controls for an enhanced gaming experience. Weighing 225g and measuring 163.8×76.8×8.9 mm, the phone is slightly lighter than the ROG Phone 9. It also holds an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, just like the flagship devices.
