The imminent launch of the Asus ROG Phone 8 series has been officially confirmed. In contrast, the ROG Phone 7 lineup, introduced in April this year, comprised the ROG Phone 7 and ROG Phone 7 Ultimate. The upcoming series is anticipated to include a standard ROG Phone 8, ROG Phone 8 Pro, and the ROG Phone 8 Ultimate.
Previous leaks and reports have provided insights into various aspects of the upcoming devices, with the company now confirming the processor details. Asus has also disclosed the scheduled launch dates for the ROG Phone 8 series.
The All New Asus ROG Phone 8 Series
Asus made the announcement on X, confirming that the ROG Phone 8 series will be unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 in Las Vegas on January 9. The Asus ROG Phone 8 lineup is set to hit the Chinese market on January 16 at 7:30 pm local time (5 pm IST). A teaser image officially shared by the company showcases one of the upcoming models with a redesigned rectangular camera module, previously glimpsed in an earlier teaser featuring a side-placed USB port.
Notably, Asus had earlier revealed that the ROG Phone 8 series models would be equipped with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. A Geekbench listing for the ROG Phone 8 Ultimate hinted at potential specifications, suggesting up to 24GB of RAM and shipping with Android 14 featuring the ROG UI. Another listing suggested support for 65W fast charging and 5G connectivity.
A variant of the Asus ROG Phone 8, speculated to be either the base or Pro model, surfaced on Geekbench with the model number ‘ASUS_AI2401_A’ and was observed to carry up to 16GB of RAM.
While the company is yet to confirm the India launch of the ROG Phone 8 series, details about the pricing of the ROG Phone 7 in India were disclosed. The 12GB + 256GB variant is priced at ₹74,999, while the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate, with a 16GB + 512GB option, is listed at ₹99,999. Both models are available in Storm White, with the base model additionally offered in Phantom Black. They are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoCs and feature a robust 6,000mAh battery with 65W wired fast charging support.
