ASUS is gearing up for the imminent launch of the ASUS ROG Phone 8 series, scheduled for next month with its initial release in China on January 16. Leading up to the official launch, various leaks have provided insights into the ROG Phone 8 lineup.
Recently, the ASUS ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro made appearances on the Geekbench website and obtained Wi-Fi Alliance certification, divulging crucial hardware details. In a recent development, the ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro has secured NBTC certification ahead of its anticipated launch next month.
The All New ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro
The NBTC certification has disclosed the device’s official name as the ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro, corroborating details previously confirmed by Bluetooth SIG certification a few days ago. Additionally, the NBTC certification has unveiled the model number AI2401_D and has indicated support for 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G connectivity. Apart from these specifics, no further details about the handset’s specifications are provided in the NBTC certification.
Previous leaks have suggested that the ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro will feature a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the smartphone is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, as confirmed by the earlier Geekbench listing. The device is anticipated to be available in configurations with 16GB or 24GB of RAM and internal storage options of 512GB or 1TB. In terms of software, the ROG Phone 8 Pro is likely to run on Android 14 out of the box.
Concerning the camera setup, leaks suggest a triple-camera arrangement, including a 50MP main camera with a Sony IMX890 sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide camera, and a 32MP telephoto lens. On the front, the smartphone may feature a 32MP camera for selfies. Notably, the device is confirmed to carry an IP68 rating, providing water and dust resistance.
