Asus' brand new Xbox Controller with In-Built Display

A new Xbox PC controller from Asus with an integrated OLED screen and a variety of PC networking options will be available later this year. Although Asus isn’t the first to use an OLED display on an Xbox controller, it is the first to support tri-mode Bluetooth, RF, or USB-C connectivity.

Above the Xbox button on the ROG Raikiri Pro is a small 1.3-inch OLED display that shows various information, including microphone status, custom animations, battery, and more.

Everything you need to know about this new Asus controller!

The OLED display’s (128 x 40 resolution) main functions will be to switch between profiles when playing games, as well as to monitor the mic or charging status, pair Bluetooth devices, and run animated or text-based wallpapers. The unique animations make me think of the Sega Dreamcast controller from the early 90s or the OLED display that took the place of the Xbox “jewel” on the updated Duke controller in 2018.

Two buttons on the top of the Raikiri Pro allow you to switch between different controller profiles while playing. You may alter the joystick sensitivity, button mapping, dead zones, and trigger modes with Asus’ Armoury Crate PC software. Trigger locks, a spherical D-pad, and four programmable back buttons are also included.

This controller also happens to be the very first Xbox-licensed one to support tri-mode communication. Along with Bluetooth and wired USB-C, this also supports a low-latency 2.4GHz RF mode. Asus describes to the Raikiri Pro as a pro PC controller and only specifies compatibility with Xbox Series S/X consoles when utilizing wired USB-C, even though it sports the developed Xbox symbol. That suggests that many of the premium features are only fully functional on PC.

A 3.5 mm headphone port, an ESS DAC that is incorporated inside the Raikiri Pro, and a mute button are also included. The Raikiri Pro’s precise release date and price have not been disclosed by Asus. All we know is that it is going to be ready during the first quarter.
