ASUS ROG has announced two new OLED models for 2022: the 42″ ROG Swift OLED, which is the industry’s first 42″ OLED panel, and the 48″ ROG Swift OLED.
The company’s two new monitors emphasise extraordinary detail by employing the display’s 4K resolution to give deep black colour and dazzling highlights, as well as true 10-bit colour spread throughout 98 per cent of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. ASUS ROG promises to provide realistic colours and factory calibration right out of the box, allowing users to get an E of less than 2 as soon as they turn on their displays.
Typical OLED televisions have glossy surfaces, which promote an appealing product in showrooms, but the reflection of the surface can be distracting when purchasing and installing in your own house, especially when using the display as a desktop monitor. The company’s ROG Swift OLED monitors include a Micro-texture coating, which reduces glare compared to most other OLED displays. This attention to detail allows these new displays to exhibit improved colour accuracy and less on-screen distraction in any game setting, resulting in a high-quality viewing experience.
ROG Swift OLED displays draw on their previous experience with cooling solutions for motherboards, GPUs, and laptops to design a specialised cooling solution for these new monitors. With the new ROG Swift series, the requirement to effectively reduce the excessive heat that all OLED screens suffer from is front and centre. To maintain temperatures below 50° C or 122° F, the company elected to use a massive bespoke heatsink to effectively control interior airflow and optimise the amount of heat exchanged through the devices. Because of the thermal headroom, the displays may still reach peak brightness levels of 900 nits while avoiding burn-in from long-term use.
Today’s premium laptops, smartphones, and televisions use an organic light-emitting diode, or OLED, screens, and it’s easy to see why. Unlike traditional liquid-crystal displays (LCDs), which use an always-on backlight, OLED panels can control the brightness of each pixel. This tech creates near-infinite contrast for a picture that jumps right off the screen, especially in high-dynamic-range (HDR) content. Unfortunately, the OLED displays and TVs currently available don’t fully cater to the needs of PC gamers. Now, we’re ready to fill that gap with the new ROG Swift OLED series. These premium displays draw on our gaming monitor expertise to offer gamers the advantages of OLED panels in a display that’s primed for immersive, fast-paced action.
Because some customers prefer to play games on consoles while others prefer to play them on PCs, ASUS equipped the ROG Swift OLED screens with two HDMI 2.1 connectors, two HDMI 2.0 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4 connector, and a USB hub. The ROG Swift OLED displays include fixed-rate link (FRL) technology, which enables bandwidth speeds of up to 48 Gbps to comply with the latest HDMI regulations. This functionality allows console gamers to enjoy the same 4K 120 Hz resolution and refresh rates that PC gamers enjoy.
For gamers, the choice is clear. With an anti-glare screen, a custom heatsink, and full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports, ROG Swift OLED monitors deliver a gaming experience that typical OLED TVs just can’t match.
Display speeds influence the selection of an appropriate gaming monitor for some customers, whether they are buying for a PC or a console. With its remarkable 120Hz refresh rate, variable-refresh rates, and auto-low-latency settings, ROG Swift OLED screens support smooth, fluid movements without needless screen tearing. The ROG Swift OLED panels have an incredible 0.1ms response time, allowing for crystal-clear viewing without disturbing motion blurs. ASUS also launched two ultra-fast gaming monitors, the 27″ ROG Swift 360Hz PG27AQN and the 32″ ROG Swift PG32UQXE, in addition to the OLED displays.
The 27″ ROG Swift 360Hz PG27AQN is ready to arm the most competitive esports gamers for success with its 360Hz refresh rate, extraordinarily short reaction time, and high-resolution 1440p display. It boasts unrivalled smoothness, clarity, and speed as the fastest ROG monitor ever made.
It’s an exciting moment to be a gamer right now. All recent systems support 4K at high refresh rates, whether you’re playing on a PC, PlayStation, or Xbox. The ROG Swift PG32UQXE is an excellent match for any of them.
The DisplayPort 1.4 interface of the ASUS ROG Swift G32UQXE supports Display Stream Compression (DSC). It drives 4K, HDR material at 160Hz with a single cable using visually lossless compression. On the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, we also added an HDMI 2.1 connection for native 4K, 120Hz output. Other playback devices and peripherals (such as webcams) can be connected to the PG32UQXE via two additional HDMI 2.0 ports and a built-in USB hub.
