Aston Villa have agreed on a deal with Bayer Leverkusen for their winger, Leon Bailey. The Midlands club took to their social accounts to reveal the news to their fans.
“Aston Villa and Bayer Leverkusen have reached an agreement for the transfer of Leon Bailey subject to the player completing a medical and finalising personal terms,” the club wrote on their official website.
Bailey is valued at €35 million on Transfermarkt and has 2 years left on his contract with the Bundesliga club. Although Villa have an agreement, they will have to see eye to eye on personal terms for the deal to go through in its entirety. The 23-year-old has been capped 9 times by the Jamaican national team and has scored 28 goals in 119 Bundesliga appearances for Leverkusen.
Villa’s potential recruit is a very fast player and is efficient in carrying the ball into the opposition box. He has attracted interest from numerous clubs across Europe in the past, with Tottenham and Everton scouting him this season. Leverkusen could have offered him another season in Europe, but it seems set that the Kingston-born player will snub the Bundesliga for the Premier League.
The news of the arrival of Bailey comes right after updates of Aston Villa getting ready to accept the £100 million bid for Jack Grealish placed by Manchester City. They have already signed Emiliano Buendia this summer, and have revamped their options on the wide spots with Bailey also joining.
