India’s U-19 Men’s squad has made the entire country proud by lifting the Asia Cuo champions trophy for the 8th time after winning over Sri Lanka in the ACC U-19 Asia World Cup in Dubai. Angkrish Raghuvanshi had hit a half-century and Shaik Rasheed scored a run of 31.
India had a target of 102 runs. India by then, had lost its top scorer Harnoor Singh who made only 5 runs in the game. Angkrish Raghuvanshi had scored 56 runs and Shaik Rasheed made 31 which paved the way for the trouble-free win. The duo together made 96 runs for the Indian team.
The Bowling of the Indian team really helped to stop Sri Lanka’s team runs for just 106/9 in the finals. The overs were restricted to 38 overs on each side. Vicky Ostwal picked 3 wickets, 2 in a single over. Rajvardhan Hangargekar and Raj Bawa took 1 wicket each while Kaushal Tambe picked two wickets.
Yasiru Rodrigo, from Sri Lanka, (19 unbeaten) was the top scorer who reached the 20-run mark. Indian bowlers kept the game under control right from the start as Sri Lanka’s top three batters didn’t get double digits. When the final resumed after rain, the match was reduced to 38 overs per side and Sri Lanka scored 32 runs in the last five overs and managed 106/9 on board.
In the group stage, India had finished second, after losing to Pakistan. In nine seasons of the U-19 Asia Cup, India has won eight times now.
Yash Dhull will be the skipper of the U19 World Cup that starts from 14 January in the West Indies and the focus will be only on the World Cup Trophy. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has congratulated the entire team on their win for the 8th time.
