Flamengo have signed Arturo Vidal on a contract until 2023. The player leaves European football after featuring for some of the best clubs in the continent. He has played for Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Juventus and Bayer Leverkusen over the years.
He most recently played for Inter Milan, and the club terminated his contract by mutual consent. There was only one year remaining on his deal, and he has now decided to move back to South America with his age slowly catching up to him now.
“FC Internazionale Milano announces that it has reached an agreement for the consensual termination of the contract of the Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal,” the official statement read.
“The club would like to thank Arturo for his two years with the Nerazzurri, which culminated in the conquest of three trophies.”
Arturo Vidal to join Flamengo
The Chilean joined Inter in 2020, helping the Nerazzurri win the Scudetto in his first season with them. This past year, he won the Coppa Italia with the side, completing the domestic achievements. He also won the Supercops during his time with the club. His fellow countryman, Alexis Sanchez, is set to follow him out the door and potentially join Flamengo alongside him.
Flamengo are expected to present Arturo Vidal as a new player in the coming days, once all the formalities surrounding his move have been completed. He will be signed on an 18-month deal until December 2023.
