Arsenal are close to reaching a total agreement with Juventus for Arthur Melo. The London club have been interested in the Brazilian for the last few weeks, and are now close to bringing him over.
While Arsenal wanted an initial loan of six months, Juventus wanted a long-term commitment if they wanted to sign Arthur. Hence, the Gunners have agreed to an 18-month loan deal for the midfielder which would end in 2023.
Arsenal very close to signing Arthur Melo on loan
Several sources have stated that Arsenal’s talks with Juventus are headed in the right direction. They have practically reached an agreement for the player, and it is only a matter of time before all formalities for the move are completed.
Arsenal will pay the entirety of Arthur Melo’s €168,000 per week wage, but there is no mention of an option to buy the player just yet. While the Premier League club have agreed to the wages, and the duration of the loan, they have not yet finalised the buy option in the deal.
Arthur Melo has been in and out of Juventus’ first team, and has failed to establish himself as a starter. He was signed as part of an exchange deal involving Miralem Pjanic going to Barcelona, and things haven’t gone according to plan for either.
With a week left for the transfer window to close, Arsenal and Juventus will have to reach an agreement quickly to finalise the transfer.
