Roma have seemingly hijacked Atletico Madrid’s pursuit of Artem Dovbyk. The Girona striker’s agent recently spoke out about the situation, and admitted that his client didn’t see a realistic project with the Rojiblancos.
Moreover, Roma had also presented a better financial proposal to the player, further convincing him to make the move to Italy. In spite of agreeing a €40 million fee with Girona, Atletico have not yet been able to agree personal terms with the Ukrainian.

The former Dnipro-1 striker won the Pichichi Award in his first season in Spain, scoring 24 goals. In the process, he helped Girona achieve their best-ever finish as they qualified for the Champions League.
Roma manager Daniele De Rossi is also keen on bringing the player over, and has been constantly calling him to make the deal happen.
As things stand, Roma and Girona are now in talks to finalise a transfer fee for the move to go through. Atletico Madrid might have to consider other targets to reinforce their striker position after the departures of Memphis Depay and Alvaro Morata.
