Arsenal are preparing to ignite the summer transfer window with a bold move for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke, following a breakthrough in personal terms. The North London club has reportedly secured a verbal agreement with the 23-year-old on a five-year contract running until June 2030, as Mikel Arteta looks to reshape his attacking options ahead of the new season.

Madueke Emerges as Arsenal’s Top Target

Sources close to the deal reveal that Noni Madueke has committed to join Arsenal, pending an official club-to-club agreement. While no formal bid has been tabled yet, Arsenal are set to submit their opening offer imminently, marking a significant step forward in what could be one of the Premier League’s standout summer deals.

Noni madueke

Madueke’s name has risen rapidly up Arsenal’s shortlist after the Gunners monitored several attacking targets including Real Madrid star Rodrygo. But it’s the England international’s explosiveness, flair, and versatility that has seemingly swayed Arsenal’s hierarchy.

Position Puzzle: Where Would Madueke Fit at Arsenal?

Madueke was predominantly deployed on the right wing during the 2024–25 season at Chelsea, making 33 appearances in that role. However, Arsenal already boast homegrown star Bukayo Saka and rising talent Ethan Nwaneri in that position.

Yet, Arteta’s strategy may involve rotating the trio, deploying Madueke on the left flank where Arsenal are currently thin. The Gunners have only brought in goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga so far, and a dynamic left winger remains high on their wishlist.

Chelsea’s New Era Makes Madueke Expendable

New manager Enzo Maresca has brought in multiple attacking reinforcements, suggesting that Madueke could be allowed to leave. The recent acquisitions of Liam Delap (£30m), Joao Pedro (up to £60m), and Jamie Gittens (£48.5m plus add-ons) hint at a reshuffling of the attacking core.

Maresca addressed squad morale after Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Palmeiras at the FIFA Club World Cup, stating: “Any players unhappy in their role are free to explore options elsewhere.”

Madueke, who came off the bench in that fixture and stretched the Palmeiras defence with his pace, might be one of those seeking a new chapter.

Arsenal’s Transfer Window Heats Up

So far, Arsenal have only confirmed the signing of Kepa and are now turning the heat up in the market. The potential addition of Madueke would bolster their depth as they gear up for another title charge and Champions League campaign.

The expected offer could force Chelsea’s hand, especially with Madueke reportedly open to the move and ready to embrace a fresh start under Arteta.
