Despite falling behind to an outstanding Rabona finish by Tottenham’s Erik Lamela, Arsenal managed to come back into the game and take it away from the visitors as they defeated Spurs 2-1.

Martin Odegaard got his first taste of the North London Derby and opened his Premier League account in the same game, equalising for the Gunners who were on the front foot throughout the first half.

Arsenal enjoyed the majority of the possession in the first half, so much so that Tottenham’s only shot on target in the first half was the goal scored by Erik Lamela. Also, Harry Kane’s first touch of the ball inside Arsenal’s penalty area came in the last 10 minutes of the game, which only goes to show how defensively resolute the Reds were yesterday.

Son Heung-min had to be taken off after only 19 minutes following a hamstring issue, and there is concern that the player will be facing time on the sideline. The number 7 has been having his best season with Tottenham this year, and it would certainly be a huge blow to the team if he were to be outright when things are picking up again.

Arsenal went ahead following a penalty won and converted by Lacazette. Davinson Sanchez bumped into the Frenchman as he squandered a chance to volley and the ref took his time, but eventually pointed to the spot. VAR agreed with Michael Oliver’s decision and the ref booked Sanchez for the challenge.

In the same way that Tottenham’s hold over the game slipped, Erik Lamela was sent off in the 76th minute following a loose elbow on Kieran Tierney that caused the ref to show him a second yellow card.

Arsenal are still in the middle of the table, while Tottenham find themselves in 7th place behind Everton and West Ham United.
