A late goal from Lautaro Martinez was enough to earn Argentina a spot in the quarter finals of the 2024 Copa America against Chile. The Inter Milan captain pounced on a loose ball after a corner and made no mistake from range to steer his side to a big win.
With two wins from as many games, the Albiceleste are on course to defending their Copa America title, and have been proving why they are the favourites with their performances, finding a way to win even when the odds seem to be against them.

Claudio Bravo had to pull off several important saves to keep his side in the game, with Argentina getting nine of their 22 shots on target. The 41-year-old was ultimately beaten with only minutes to spare, but couldn’t have done much in that situation.
Emiliano Martinez, on the other side of the field, was only troubled with three shots on target. The Argentine attack was effective once again, albeit lacking composure in front of goal.
Argentina’s final group stage game is against Peru, with qualification already sealed. As a result, head coach Lionel Scaloni might opt to rotate the squad to keep the first choices fresh for the knockout stages.
