Arda Güler has suffered a meniscus injury in preseason training with Real Madrid, which will keep him out for the next 12 weeks at the very least. The Turkish midfielder only recently signed for Los Blancos from Fenerbahce in a deal worth €30 million. And shortly after making his first appearance in a white shirt, the youngster has been sidelined with an injury.
The player has completed the initial part of his treatment and is reportedly feeling good. If his progress continues positively, surgery could be ruled out which would have sidelined him until January.
He could make his return as soon as November should he continue with regular treatment.
Arda Güler suffers serious injury in Real Madrid training
Comparisons have been made with former Real Madrid player Eden Hazard, who also suffered an injury shortly after becoming the club’s most expensive signing. The former Chelsea winger was unable to recapture his form in the Premier League over four years in Spain. And now, is considering retirement over a lack of offers.
It is unfair to compare Güler to the Belgian, especially since the two players were at very different stages of their career when they signed for Real Madrid. The Turkiye international still has time on his side, and the injury should not deter him from fulfilling his potential.
Real Madrid are considering not registering Arda Güler with La Liga for the first part of the season, so that another player can be registered in his place. For the time being, there is no schedule on his recovery but he will be out for the first half of the season.
