Apple’s Scary Fast Event: Anticipated M3 Chip Launch and Mac Upgrades

Apple is gearing up for its upcoming launch event named “Scary Fast,” scheduled for Monday, October 30. In line with recent events, this will be an exclusively online affair, offering expectations of significant chip updates and the introduction of new Mac models on the eve of Halloween. The Apple Scary Fast event is set to kick off on Monday, October 30, at 8 PM Eastern Time (ET), which translates to 5:30 AM in India.

Expected Product Launches at Apple Scary Fast Event

This event is going to introduce the M3 chip, following the success of Apple’s M-chip lineup that made its debut with the MacBook Air in 2020. The M3 chip is significant because it utilizes TSMC’s 3nm process, similar to the A17 Pro chips found in the new iPhone 15 Pro series. This advancement promises greater speed and efficiency compared to the existing M2 line, which is based on a 5nm process.

M3-powered iMacs

Scary Fast

iMacs, which haven’t seen updates since their M1-based launch in April 2021, are expected to receive long-awaited upgrades. While the overall design might remain familiar, changes are foreseen in the internal hardware. A 32-inch iMac update is likely to be released next year, while the 24-inch iMac may also receive updates.

Apple’s 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, recently launched with M2 Pro and Max chips earlier in the year, may get updated with M3 chips featuring 16-core CPUs, 40-core GPUs, and RAM options of up to 48GB, according to Bloomberg reports.

Other Possibilities

The event may introduce a 13-inch MacBook Pro or possibly new MacBook Air models. Apple may also unveil updated accessories like a USB-C Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse. Furthermore, there are rumors about other products such as refreshed iPads, a 32-inch iMac, an OLED-equipped MacBook Pro, a redesigned iPad Pro, and the Vision Pro, all expected in the coming year or beyond.
