Apple’s upcoming M2 chipset spotted ahead of tomorrow’s Apple Event

The Cupertino giant will be announcing a slew of products at its Peak Performance event tomorrow and the major release will come in the form of Apple’s next in-house silicon in the form of M2 chipset. This launch has been rumoured since long back and the event on March 8th will prove the fact that Apple is targeting a 1 and a half year silicon upgrade cycle.

Now, it has been confirmed prior to the launch the existence of this new chip as reported by the reliable Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter. As per his findings, a “developer source” has informed him that in recent weeks, the Cupertino giant has been working on a new chip which features an eight-core CPU and a 10-core GPU that too across multiple Macs running on the latest macOS beta.

“I’m told from a developer source that Apple has been testing multiple Macs with a new chip in recent weeks that includes an eight-core CPU (four efficiency cores and four high-performance cores) and 10 GPU cores. Those are exactly the specifications of the M2 chip I detailed last year.”

“Apple has been testing this new chip on machines running macOS 12.3 (which should be released in the next week or two and run on the new Macs) and a future macOS 12.4, as well as macOS 13, which will be previewed in June at WWDC 2022.”

A similar kind of event occurred just before the launch of new M1 Pro and Max chips back in October by Mark Gurman and the leak seemed to be true. So, this leak can be relyed as Apple looks to bring a new chip to make a headline in the tech world again, launching new products with this M2 chipset as well.

This will be a major upgrade as back in November 2020, Apple announced the M1 chipset and it became a hit across a wide range of devices. So, the M2‌ chip will again set the bar high as it will eventually be used across all of Apple’s devices, from Macbooks to iMacs, and even iPad Pros.

As suspected to be the first devices to use this M2 chipset, there will be an updated 13-inch MacBook Pro which is said to launch tomorrow and a completely redesigned ‌MacBook Air‌ has the possibility of announcement as well.

A powerful Mac mini with either M1 Pro or M1 Max chip will also be launched at the event while other devices includes new iPhone SE 3 and new iPad Air with A15 Bionic. Well, you won’t have to wait much longer as Apple’s Spring Event i.e. the “Peak Performance” digital launch event will go live tomorrow at 11:30 PM IST.
