Apple’s M2 chip could potentially be faster than the latest monsters from Intel and AMD

Apple’s latest produced silicon the M1 chip is currently one of the most successful chips in the market and even if the world tech giants are currently facing a shortage of semiconductors chips, it seems that the Cupertino giant is making pretty well with its promise to keep up with meeting the demands of their customers.

Its 5nm M1 chip is found in not just the new iMac but the 2021 iPad Pro series, the Mac mini, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air. The silicon from Apple has been widely appreciated and praised by critics from every corner of the tech world, and the journey is far from over.

And we also know that even more powerful chips are expected to be released by the Cupertino giant. The so-called M1X or M2 will be the next in line to dominate the notebook market.

According to sources, the new N5P manufacturing process of the Taiwanese Semiconductor Manufacturing Company could be used to develop both the A15 Bionic for the iPhone 13 series and the M2 or M1X for the more powerful machines.

Apple stated that the mass production of its A15 Bionic is said to take place later this month, while shipments of new Apple Silicon might begin as early as July. The M2, or the M1X, on the other hand, is reserved for the newly designed 14.1-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, whose mass production is said to start in the second half of 2021.

We already know that the M1 features an 8-core CPU and an 8-core GPU, along with support for up to 16GB unified RAM and a 16-core Neural Engine. The ‘M1X’, on the other hand, is expected to have a 12-core CPU divided into eight performance cores and four power-efficiency ones. These will be paired with a 16-core GPU with a TDP that could go up to 45W when required.

However, all of the spec released are just rumours and expectations, and for the original specifications, we have to wait for the official announcement from the manufacturer itself. But that isn’t stopping the leakers from coming up with theories and leaks to mesmerize the masses. According to a recent leak, the M1X, or M2, is significantly faster than a 10-core Intel Core i9 or 8-core Ryzen 7 5800X CPU.
