Apple’s AI-Powered Smart Home Display to Launch in March 2025 with Siri Integration
The operating system is dubbed as iPhone’s StandBy mode meets watchOS, highlighting smart home control via Siri and App Intents. It has a customizable home screen that can show weather updates, calendar appointments, and photo slideshows; you access apps via a software dock. Some of these also have multiple devices that can act as intercoms and can help connect you in the house.
The Cupertino giant focused on security, allowing alerts and the ability to view live footage from any smart-connected camera. Built-in sensors in the device will detect when a user comes closer and switch features accordingly, like going from temperature to thermostat controls. There are suggestions for developing additional outside sensors but that all relies on production from the supplier.
In addition to controlling smart home devices, the display has apps for Safari, Apple News, Apple Music, Notes, and Calendar but no App Store. Flexibility of use will be supported with accessories such as a wall mount and speaker base. It’s what Apple calls a command center for the smart home market, designed to work alongside existing Apple products and once again able to be set up only via an iPhone.
Priced competitively with Amazon’s $150 Echo Hub and Google’s $230 Nest Hub Max, Apple’s device targets similar audiences. If successful, Apple might expand into smart home accessories, potentially introducing an indoor security camera in 2026. Gurman also reports plans for a future robotic version of the display capable of screen mobility. With over three years of development and direct input from CEO Tim Cook, the giant hopes the device will rival existing products and redefine its role in the smart home ecosystem.
