With the release of the first tvOS 17 public beta, Apple TV customers can now test out all of the new features ahead of the rest of the world. Every year, Apple releases a new version of the operating system that drives the Apple TV player. Apple also stated that tvOS 17 will be ready later this year during this year’s WWDC presentation last month.

As part of that slow rollout approach, Apple has now published the first public beta of tvOS 17, allowing those interested to test out the latest version and all of its new features.

Because this is a beta version, and the first beta, the experience may not be as stable as the current stable version of tvOS 16. In other words, people who choose to test the beta should be informed that they may encounter flaws and problems.

Users must enroll their qualifying Apple TV device in the Apple Beta Software Program to gain access to the latest version.

Once enrolled, consumers will be able to install the tvOS 17 public beta via the Software Updates section in Settings, just like any other update. One of the most noticeable visual changes in tvOS 17 is the new Control Center. It has been revamped to be more user-friendly, and the settings for connected devices are now easier to access.

Another significant update in tvOS 17 is the arrival of FaceTime. While using an iPhone or iPad to conduct a FaceTime call is still required, the user will be able to see the recipients on the TV linked to the Apple TV player.

There are other changes, such as VPN support, so there’s enough to look at if you decide to install the beta.
