Apple Smart Ring: Everything You Need to Know
Recently, there has been a lot of talk about Apple possibly creating a ring that you can wear on your finger. While we’re not sure if this project is happening for sure, we’ve gathered up all the rumors going around to give you an idea of what people are saying.
More About Apple Smart Ring
One rumor from Electronic Times in February suggests that Apple is really pushing forward with making a ring that focuses on health features. Like the Apple Watch, this new device could keep track of things like your heart rate how active you are, your sleep patterns, and how you’re breathing. This could give users insights about their health and offer recommendations too. In addition to health monitoring the smart ring might also work as a way to control Apple gadgets such as iPhones, iPads, Vision Pro glasses, or Mac computers.
Even though Apple already has the Apple Watch for health tracking purposes having a ring could be more convenient for activities. For example, it might be better suited for tracking sleep or in situations where wearing something on your wrist isn’t practical. Unlike the Apple Watch which needs a connection to an iPhone the smart ring might have a battery life since it may not need to stay connected all the time for real-time syncing like with the Apple Watch data transfer would probably happen through Bluetooth or similar methods.
On another note, Samsung is said to be working on its Galaxy Ring which is expected to come out in the part of this year. This gadget is expected to keep track of heart rate, movement, and sleep and also provide payment options and control over Samsung devices. Moreover, companies like Oura and Ultrahuman have been developing rings for a time now providing functionalities like tracking activities monitoring heart rate, and analyzing sleep patterns.
Apple has filed patents related to smart ring technology, exploring various potential functionalities. These patents include using a smart ring as a control method for VR headsets, incorporating touch-sensitive displays for TV or tablet control, and integrating NFC technology into smart rings.
While reports suggest Apple is contemplating the development of a smart ring, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman indicated in February that the company is not actively working on such a device at present. Although Apple’s design team previously pitched the idea of a health-focused smart ring to executives, it remains uncertain whether this concept will materialize into a marketable product in the near future.
