Apple plans to buy off Primephonic and merge it with its Apple Music

Apple yesterday announced that it will be buying the classical music streaming service Primephonic and is planning on launching an app dedicated to the genre. For now, it’s not disclosed as to how much the Cupertino giant will be paying to purchase the Europe-based Primephonic, but we do know that Primephonic has confirmed that it is becoming part of the iPhone maker’s music service.

“We felt compelled to develop a streaming service that truly gets classical right — so that’s what we did over the last three years. But to fully achieve the next phase of our mission, we need to bring our classical streaming expertise to millions of listeners worldwide.”

the service will reportedly be going offline on September 7, with subscribers being offered six months of free use of Apple Music by the Cupertino giant.

“We love and have a deep respect for classical music, and Primephonic has become a fan favorite for classical enthusiasts. Together, we’re bringing great new classical features to Apple Music, and shortly, we’ll deliver a dedicated classical experience that will truly be the best in the world.”

according to reports, Apple will be weaving the Primephonic technology together into Apple Music and convert them into a dedicated classical music app which it plans to launch next year.

“Bringing the best of Primephonic to Apple Music subscribers is a tremendous development for the classical music industry. We get to bring classical music to the mainstream and connect a new generation of musicians with the next generation of audience.”

the combination of Apple Music with Primephonic will make for a deadly combo. And currently, Apple is in the middle of itself from the blame of having a monopoly over its Apps Store. For more information stay tuned.
