Apple Mixed Reality Headset: Here’s everything we know about the company’s upcoming product

The rumours surrounding Apple’s Mixed Reality headset are finally starting to materialise. Apple is getting ready to unveil its AR/VR headset at the upcoming WWDC 2023 in June. Apple wants to bring in as many users as it can for this new platform.

To make the app experience appealing to everyone, the company is therefore working around the clock. According to a Bloomberg report, the Cupertino tech giant is presently developing specialised collaboration, wellness, sports, and gaming apps for the upcoming device.

Initial rumours that the company was developing a unique app store for the headset proved to be unfounded. According to recent reports, the company would prefer to adapt iPad apps for the new headset. Through the 3D interface of the headset, users will be able to access the content of the app store.

Apple will also prepare its own applications for the mixed reality headset, including Safari, Calendar, Contacts, Home, Files, Messages, Notes, Photos, Music, Reminders, and others. More apps will be able to run simultaneously on the device thanks to multitasking capabilities. Additionally, geological elements will switch between apps when the user is in a different room.

The device will include the Fitness+ app, which enables users to work out while viewing a virtual fitness instructor. The Health app, which will lead you through meditation, is also available to you. This works with voiceovers, sound, and graphics. Users of the Headset will also be able to immerse themselves in MLB and MLS content. The specific TV app allows users to watch videos in virtual reality as well.

An exclusive FaceTime app for the Apple Mixed Reality headset will make use of Memoji-style avatars.

Additionally, it will have redesigned Books app for reading books in the virtual world and virtual meeting rooms. Users can use the cameras on the headset to take pictures with the help of a camera app. The dedicated Freeform app with 3D interface within the virtual environment can be useful for users who use Freeform to work on collaborative projects with others.

According to reports, Apple’s mixed reality headset won’t be cheap. The first edition of the headset will cost $3,000, and the company has selected a few target markets. According to sources, Apple only intends to sell one million units of its mixed reality headset. Although this amount might seem high, it is actually quite low for a company like Apple.
