Apple has officially launched the MacBook Neo — its most affordable laptop ever — starting at just ₹69,900 in India. Unlike the company’s premium M-series laptops, the Apple MacBook Neo runs on the A18 Pro chip (the same processor that powers the [iPhone 16 Pro](https://technosports.co.in/?s=iPhone+16+Pro) lineup) and is aimed squarely at students, first-time Mac buyers, and everyday users who want Apple’s ecosystem without the premium price tag.

## What Makes It Special — and Where It Compromises

The MacBook Neo features Apple’s Liquid Retina display with one billion colour support and an anti-reflective coating, a 1080p FaceTime camera, dual side-firing speakers with Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos, and Apple’s Magic Keyboard with a large Multi-Touch trackpad. The fanless design means completely silent operation.

The A18 Pro chip delivers up to 50% faster everyday performance versus a best-selling Intel Core Ultra 5 PC, and up to 3x faster on-device AI workloads — meaning Apple Intelligence features like Writing Tools and Live Translation all run locally on the device.

The trade-offs are real, though. The Neo drops Thunderbolt ports and MagSafe charging, ships with just a 20W charger, and 8GB of RAM is non-upgradable. Touch ID is exclusive to the 512GB model, making the ₹79,900 variant the better buy for most users.

At ₹69,900, the MacBook Neo sits ₹50,000 below the MacBook Air M5’s ₹1,19,900 starting price — a massive gap that opens up an entirely new segment for Apple in India.
