Apple is set to unveil the MacBook Air M4 this week after months of speculation, the company confirmed on social media. The highly anticipated laptop will succeed the MacBook Air M3, which debuted in March 2024, and will be available in both 13-inch and 15-inch models. The new device could also deliver Apple Intelligence, Apple’s AI-powered feature suite on macOS, which would be a big upgrade for the MacBook Air family, according to some reports.

The 13-inch and 15-inch models, codenamed J713 and J715, are said to have the same Liquid Retina display that their predecessors had. Rumor has it Apple will extend its nano-texture coating, which is offered on the MacBook Pro (M4, 2024) to MacBook Air M4, reducing glare and further clarifying the device’s display. There are also rumors of the company transitioning its current Thunderbolt 3 ports to Thunderbolt 4, leading to better connectivity and higher data transfer speeds. The first reports about the M4-powered MacBook Air surfaced in October 2024 from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who recently reaffirmed its launch timeline.
