The 2022 MacBook Air is expected to feature a notch at the top, similar to the updated MacBook Pro models, as well as a variety of new color options. Previously, it was announced that this model would be released in the second half of 2022, but this is not the case. Thankfully, sources suggest that Apple will reveal it in September.

The iDropNews article does not specify if the M2 MacBook Air will just have a white notch or if its color will be determined by the finish sold later in the year. Although LeaksApplePro obtained an image of the product, the anonymous source requested that it not be made public. He did, however, say that the image he was provided appears exactly like the renders we’ve seen before, implying that it wouldn’t have been surprised if that image had been uploaded.

According to additional information, the display on the M2 MacBook Air will grow from 13.3 to 13.6 inches due to the elimination of bezels. Despite the presence of a notch at the top, the next MacBook Air will not include Face ID support; however, the notch does signal a potential shift in which Apple could include the security feature in future models. Ross Young had previously anticipated the same 13.6-inch display size but also mentioned that a 14.2-inch model will be added to the inventory.

M2 MacBook Air will not be supporting a mini-LED display

Customers anticipating larger displays will be disappointed, since both models will lack mini-LED or ProMotion technologies, according to Young, but this tradeoff is necessary to keep the M2 MacBook Air’s price low.

Fortunately, despite Ming-Chi Kuo’s claim that the forthcoming model would ship with Apple’s last-generation M1, multiple reports claim that Apple will instead employ its new M2, which should deliver a minor performance boost over its predecessor.

While future buyers will most likely have to wait for the M2 MacBook Air due to the long wait, keep in mind that this rumor should be taken with a grain of salt.
