Apple introduces the first 8-core MacBook Pro up to Core i9

Apple updates its MacBook Pro with latest 9th generation Intel CPUs now supports up to 8 cores with a 5.0GHz boost clock speed, price starts at Rs.1,59,000

MacBook Pro series has always been the most preferred laptop series for professionals, students and content creators. The high-end hardware along with the smooth macOS helps users to get a phenomenal overall experience.

We always have seen Apple to update its MacBook Pro series hardware with every new generation of Intel processors. In 2019, Intel officially declared its 9th gen CPUs for laptops, and now in May Apple has already update its MacBook Pro lineup using the same powerful and latest Intel CPUs.

This is the first time ever Apple has added eight cores to the MacBook Pros to allow the device to perform twice as fast as that of a quad-core MacBook Pro and with 40% better performance than a 6-core MacBook Pro.

The two 13-inch and 15-inch models have been updated with powerful processors and GPU which helps out in professional tasks like video editing, Photoshop, animation, coding, developing and others.

The 13 inch model

The base model without the Touch ID can be configured up to 2.3GHz dual-core Intel Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz, with 64MB of eDRAM.

On the other hand, the one with the Touch ID can be configured up to 2.8GHz quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 4.7GHz, with 128MB of eDRAM.

Except this, all other features remain the same like:

  • 13.3-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit display with IPS technology (Retina Display)
  • 500 nits of brightness, P3 wide colour gamut and True Tone technology
  • Intel Iris Graphics
  • 8GB of 2133MHz LPDDR3 RAM
  • SSD storage
  • Stereo speakers with high dynamic range
  • macOS Mojave
  • Apple T2 Security Chip

The pricing of the MacBook Pro 13 inch model starts from Rs.1,59,000, the price of the updated 13-inch model has been reduced by Rs.10,000.

The 15 inch model

Apple has actually upgraded its best ever MacBook Pro lineup i.e. the 15 inch variant. There will be two processor variants of the this 15 inch model:

  • 2.6GHz 6-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 4.5GHz, with 12MB shared L3 cache
  • 2.3GHz 8-core Intel Core i9, Turbo Boost up to 4.8GHz, with 16MB shared L3 cache

You can configure the laptop up to 2.4GHz 8-core Intel Core i9, Turbo Boost up to 5.0GHz, with 16MB shared L3 cache.

Apart from the upgraded horsepower, everything remains the same:

  • 15.4-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit display with IPS technology (Retina Display)
  • 500 nits of brightness, P3 wide colour gamut and True Tone technology
  • Radeon Pro 555X with 4GB of GDDR5 memory/ Radeon Pro 560X with 4GB of GDDR5 memory/ Radeon Pro Vega 16 with 4GB of HBM2 memory or Radeon Pro Vega 20 with 4GB of HBM2 memory
  • 16GB of 2400MHz DDR4 RAM
  • SSD storage
  • Stereo speakers with high dynamic range
  • macOS Mojave
  • Apple T2 Security Chip
Apple introduces the first 8-core MacBook Pro up to Core i9

The base variant of the 15-inch model used to cost Rs.2,24,900, which now has been reduced by Rs.25,000 to make it available at Rs.1,99,900. The highest end Core i9 model will cost you around Rs.2,39,900.

The new MacBook Pro 13 with Touch Bar and MacBook Pro is scheduled to be available at Apple Authorised Resellers by this week.
