Apple’s first HomePod with Display to Launch in 2025: All You Need to Know
For years, rumors have swirled about Apple launching its first smart home display to compete with the Echo Show, Google Nest, and Meta Portal. Now, new reports suggest that Apple may unveil not one but two smart home devices in 2025, powered by a fresh operating system called homeOS.
Apple’s Highly Anticipated HomePod with Display and HomeOS Coming Soon?
According to the latest Power On newsletter by Mark Gurman, Apple’s new smart displays will blend HomePod functionality with smart displays, offering a more intelligent home experience. The lower-end model (codename J490) will focus on FaceTime and smart home control, while the higher-end model (codename J595) will feature a robotic arm and a larger iPad-like display for more dynamic interactions. Both devices will run on homeOS, which Gurman predicts will be based on tvOS and may eventually integrate with all of Apple’s home devices.
The entry-level device is expected to have an A18 chip, a FaceTime camera, and gesture recognition, making it a powerful hub for controlling smart home appliances. Meanwhile, the high-end version, rumored to cost over $1,000, is expected to offer advanced video conferencing capabilities, allowing users to move freely while staying engaged in virtual meetings.
Apple’s new smart displays will likely introduce advanced AI features, integrated with Siri, for seamless home automation. Additionally, Foxconn has reportedly been tapped to develop key components, such as the robotic arm. With this much-anticipated launch, Apple is poised to make its mark in the smart display market by 2025, further expanding its home tech ecosystem.
