Apple has been the last major smartphone brand to resist the foldable trend — and it looks like that’s finally about to change. The first CAD renders of what appears to be Apple’s long-rumoured foldable iPhone have surfaced, and things are getting very real, very fast.

## What the Leaks Tell Us — and What They Don’t

The CAD renders are early-stage, so don’t read too much into the exact design details — Apple is known for iterating heavily between prototype and final product. That said, the book-style form factor aligns with what Samsung and Google Pixel Fold have established as the premium foldable blueprint, and Apple rarely enters a category without a strong opinion on how it should be done.

The 7.8-inch inner OLED display would put it firmly in small-tablet territory when open — think iPad mini in your pocket. The hole-punch camera on the inner display suggests Apple is prioritising screen real estate over a notch, a sensible choice for a device meant to double as a productivity screen.

What’s most interesting is the dual camera on the back. Apple’s current flagship iPhones carry triple camera systems, so a dual setup hints at deliberate compromises to achieve that thin folded profile — a trade-off foldable buyers are already familiar with.

[Apple](https://www.apple.com/) Intelligence being built in is expected — but on a foldable with a larger display canvas, it could genuinely shine for on-device AI tasks, summarisation, and multitasking in ways that feel more natural than on a standard iPhone.

At above $2,000, this won’t be for everyone. But for Apple loyalists who’ve been waiting to fold, the wait is almost over.
