Today, at WWDC 2021, Apple announced a host of its new software updates, and among them, one of the biggest has to the new macOS Monterey, not as big as the macOS Big Sur; however, it is the best OS for Apple Silicon transition.

It brings some cool features that have been implemented, especially due to the fact that Apple is now centralizing its software with its own silicon. So, the Cupertino giant can easily build cross-platform features seamlessly like the new Universal Control feature.

The new macOS Monterey brings the Shortcuts app for Mac and just like on iOS, Shortcuts on Mac will let you complete tasks with ease, while Apple is planning to introduce a whole bunch of pre-built shortcuts for Mac users.

Apple has totally revamped its much-loved Safari browser, not only for macOS but also for iPadOS and iOS. You have the new tab groups, and it is an interesting feature to play with as you have more control to sort your tabs into categories and browse as per these tab groups. Share tab groups to mails or other apps and easily sync across devices.

With AirPlay to Mac, users will be able to play, present, and share anything directly from their ‌iPhone‌ or ‌iPad‌ to Mac’s display. Or, you can even use Mac’s speakers as an ‌AirPlay‌ speaker, so you seamlessly play music or listen to podcasts on your Mac, or even use the Mac as a secondary speaker.

There are some quick updates on the Notes app as well, and there will be new features like Quick Note, which easily users jot down notes for any specific app or website and systemwide. Also, much like iPadOS, note-taking will be even more collaborative, with features like user mentions, Activity View that even shows all of the edits done to a shared note.

Like the Focus feature that has been introduced in the iOS15, it will make its introduction to the macOS Monterey as well. As you opt-in for the focus mode on the task at hand, you can filter out notifications unrelated to that activity. Now, when focus mode is active on your Mac, it automatically gets synced across all of your Apple devices.

FaceTime is also getting a host of new audio and video features to make the sessions even more lifelike as we require remote connectivity more than ever! FaceTime now supports important features Spatial Audio, Voice Isolation and Portrait Mode.
