Apple today announced the 2nd generation Apple Watch SE, the Apple Watch SE 2. It features the S8 chip, crash detection, and new color options. But you will not get higher-end features found on the premium models, such as the electrical heart rate sensor, SpO2 sensor, and an always-on display.
The new Watch SE features the same SiP 8 which is found on the new Watch Series 8. The new SiP makes Watch SE 20% faster. Let’s have a look at its detailed features and specifications:
Apple Watch SE 2 Features
The second-generation Watch SE offers the core Apple Watch experience at a more affordable price. The back case has been redesigned with a new, colour-matched nylon composite material. The Watch SE is now 20 percent faster thanks to the S8 chip, the same chip from the Watch Series 8. The new watch runs the latest watchOS 9 updates.
The new model is made out of 100% recycled aluminium, with a redesigned back case made out of nylon composite materials. The company claimed the new Watch SE is made using a production process that reduces its carbon footprint by 80%.
It comes with all the standard features of the original SE — a Retina OLED display, optical heart rate sensor, fall detection, emergency SOS, and water resistance up to 50 meters. The SE will also support international roaming by pairing with an iPhone’s roaming plan.
The second-generation Apple Watch SE is available in Midnight, Starlight, and Silver, with matching back cases. The new price is $249 for GPS and $299 for the GPS+Cellular version of the Apple Watch SE. Users can pre-order the smartwatch today, and it will be available on September 16.
