The original Apple AirPods Max were released in December 2020 for a whopping $549. Since then, the high-end headphones have not been updated, and the company is expected to take its time before releasing the second generation. According to a well-known analyst, Apple could release the new AirPods Max 2 in the second half of 2024 or early in 2025. Scroll down to learn more about the topic.
Ming-Chi Kuo claims in a series of tweets that Apple’s “next important acoustic product refresh time” will be in 2024 or 2025. According to the analyst, Apple has three products in store for users during this time period: the HomePod mini 2, the AirPods Max 2, and the budget AirPods.
According to Kuo, Apple could release the products later in 2024 or early in 2025.
The analyst only mentioned the time frame and said nothing about the upcoming features that will be included in the mix. In terms of what to expect, Apple could add a USB-C port instead of the Lightning port found on the current AirPods Max. Furthermore, Apple may offer increased battery life, new colours, and upgraded internals for improved audio quality and Find My iPhone features.
Regarding the low-cost AirPods, Kuo previously stated that Apple is aiming for a $99 price tag. The cheapest AirPods are currently available for purchase for $129 USD. The third-generation AirPods are priced at $169. The smart speaker was well received by reviewers, who stated that it brings excellent sound quality and enhanced smart home features to the table.
