Anushka Sharma‘s Clean Slate Filmz is all set to produce films and series worth Rs 400 crore ($54 million) for Netflix and Amazon Prime Video in the coming one and a half years.
Anushka Sharma’s Clean Slate Filmz is a major player in the streaming wars. The production house was founded by the actor and her brother Karnesh Sharma and is going to produce films and series valued at Rs 400 crore ($54 million) for Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Bloomberg reports.
A Netflix spokesperson recently confirmed that the streaming giant is trying to make a mark in India post six operations and will be releasing three titles produced by Clean Slate Filmz in the coming months. Sharma has refused to provide a full list of titles until and unless they are officially announced.
He told Bloomberg that Clean Slate would be releasing at least eight titles on Netflix and Prime Video in the next year-and-a-half. “What has happened over a period of time is ambition is also going up within the studio systems,” , “And that’s great for people like us.” said Sharma.
Clean Slate had begun its venture in 2013 and released its first film in 2015’s NH10-to critical and commercial hit. Recently, he has produced edgier and titles like Netflix’s Bulbul and Prime Video’s Patal Lok.
The banner is going to release Mai a new Netflix series that stars Sakshi Tanwar. It is in production on Qala which will be also the acting debut of Irrfan Khan’s son, Babil Khan. Netflix also announced that Anushka Sharma will make her acting come back with the sports biopic Chakda Express based on the life of Indian pacer Jhulan Goswami.
The latest update comes weeks after the streaming giant slashed their prices in a move to draw more audience to the platform and upping their game against competitors in India.
