After missing training with the Ajax first team yesterday, Antony has not appeared in training once again. The player is likely to be dropped for the game against Sparta Rotterdam on Sunday, amidst further speculation of a transfer for him.

The winger is pushing for Ajax to let him join Manchester United this summer. The Premier League club made an €80 million bid which was rejected by the Eredivisie champions. As a result, there are rumours that a sum worth €100 million is going to convince Ajax to sell their man, and United are preparing such a bid.

After strong protests from Manchester United fans, following their embarrassing start to the season, the club has sprung back to life in the transfer window. They failed to convince Frenkie De Jong to join them despite agreeing a deal with Barcelona, and are still prepared to sign him if the opportunity arises.

But, after the confirmation for Casemiro from Real Madrid, Antony is the next major target for Erik Ten Hag. Considering Ajax have little time to find a suitable replacement, it will be difficult to convince them to sell. However, they are likely to try and bring back Hakim Ziyech from Chelsea if the move does go through.

The next few days will be very important in finalising whether the transfer will materialise or not.
