Ajax are expecting Manchester United to launch a formal offer for Antony in the coming days. The Premier League club have had their previous bids rejected, but are prepared to try again to sign the winger.
A sum worth €100 million is being rumoured as the next bid that United will launch to get their man. Ajax manager Alfred Schreuder has insisted that he wants the player to stay at the club for the coming season, since he is one of their most important players. As a result, the team is trying their best to not lose him this late in the transfer window.
Antony anticipating another offer from Manchester United
The Brazilian has been pushing for a transfer from Ajax, and refused to train with the first team in the days leading up to their weekend. He was also excluded from the squad for their game against Sparta Rotterdam on Sunday.
According to Fabrizio Romano, personal terms over a contract have been agreed since one week. It is now up to the clubs to agree a transfer fee for the skilled winger to make the move.
Ajax could re-sign Hakim Ziyech as the replacement for Antony. The Moroccan has struggled for regular game time under Thomas Tuchel, and recently travelled to Amsterdam to talk to Klaas Jan Huntelaar over a return. So, despite things being complicated in the window right now, the Dutch side are prepared to deal with Antony’s departure if United can persuade them.
